Mastodon won the Grammy Award in the “Best Metal Performance” category! They were nominated for the song “Sultan’s Curse” from their “Emperor Of Sand” album (2017). The nominees in the “Best Metal Performance” category were as follows:

AUGUST BURNS RED – “Invisible Enemy”
BODY COUNT – “Black Hoodie”
CODE ORANGE – “Forever”
MASTODON – “Sultan’s Curse”
MESHUGGAH – “Clockworks”

Of course, it is a great honor for Mastodon and heavy metal music! These awards are a true motive for young bands to pursue their dreams and try for their best. Let’s see what the winners had to say.

Mastodon’s drummer, Brann Dailor, said backstage that the award is “huge for us and for heavy metal. It’s one of the greatest genres with some of the most talented and skilled musicians playing it”. He also credited Atlanta fans for the band’s eighteen years of success: “Our first show had hundreds of people and they came out to support us from the time we were playing the Parasite House to the Fox Theatre”.
